Synopsis for Stone Soup and Story Engines: Can 1000 Authors Create a Tasty RPG?Speakers/Panelists
William Ferguson Synopsis
Many of us would like to create (or at least play) role playing games (and other story based games) that are truly responsive to the player's actions and choices in ways that have not been anticipated by the games' authors. But how can we do this without having to solve the complete Artificial Intelligence problem first? I will suggest that if we can 1) create a system that is elegant enough so that hundreds or even thousands of authors can contribute story elements, and 2) design an engine that can weave those elements together to create "a world for each player", then we can crowd-source the AI content creation process. I will present a vision and a prototype for accomplishing all this. | |
